Prairie restoration is the process of returning natural beauty and ecological benefits back onto the landscape. By removing invasive species and reestablishing endemic wildflower, ornamental prairie grasses and select tree and shrub species we are able to invite the return of pollinators, decrease soil erosion and improve the health of the soil. Prairie restoration works wonderfully for acreage sites but the principles can be applied to urban lots as well.

Texas Blue Bonnets are one of the first wildflowers to make an appearance every spring.

Native grasses are an essential part of a native prairie. Their roots reach deep in search of moisture helping prevent erosion.

Diversity of species is key

Antelope-horns Milkweed is one of dozens species in this meadow. It is a crucial food source for the endangered Monarch butterfly caterpillars.

A diversity of plant species provide nectar sources, food sources and habitat for a variety of beneficial wildlife.

The ebb and flow of a prairie is a joy to watch. As one species fades and goes to seed another is waiting for its time to shine.
